Public History students may be employed as
Teaching
Assistants, or as Research Assistants for Public History faculty or
at community institutions in London. In the past two years (2010-12), Public History students have worked in various capacities at London Life Archives, the London
Heritage Council, the UWO Medical Artifact Collection, Banting House
National Historic Site, Eldon House, Museum London, the Promised Land
Project at Huron University College, Fanshawe Pioneer Village, London
Museum School, and the Museum of Ontario
Archaeology, among others. The terms of a Public History RA placement are the
same as a TA position, that is students will work an average of 10
hours/week between September-April. The number of RA placements and locations change
each year and depend on program needs, and student and community
interest. For more information, or to request an intern for your
institution, please contact Michelle Hamilton at mhamilt3@uwo.ca. Come January, the Harris family's history will be
brought to life through an exhibit based on the popular social
networking site Twitter.
"Victorian Tweets" is the brainchild of UWO master's student
Adrian Petry, who believes it will make history more accessible and
appealing to younger Londoners. Read more.Public History Research Assistantships
