Fruits of Victory
'Fruits of Victory'
Yangjiabu, Shandong
52 x 39 cm
reprint of ca. 1950s
With the completion of the communist revolution in 1949, people were told that they could finally enjoy the 'fruits of the revolution' - which included the property and possessions taken from big landlords and redistributed among the remaining village residents. The construction of the image, however, is an obvious reference to earlier pictures of boys playing in a plum tree.
